PhD Top-Up Scholarship for Research Projects in the fields of Laboratory, Clinical, Epidemiological, Psychosocial and/or Behavioural Science to minimise the effect of cancer in the community.
Cancer Council Western Australia aims to minimise the effect of cancer on our community through research and education and by providing people affected by cancer with support to enhance their quality of life. A key objective of the Cancer Council is to encourage and support a wide range of research activities into the causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer and leukaemia.
Cancer Council Western Australia PhD Top Up Scholarships are offered to students with an outstanding track record in academic achievement and research potential to pursue full-time PhD studies in Western Australia in cancer-related research. Research projects can be in the fields of laboratory, clinical, epidemiological, psychosocial and/or behavioural science.
In 2011 a maximum of two PhD Top Up scholarships will be awarded to highly ranked PhD students awarded an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) or equivalent. Total value of the PhD Top Up scholarship will be up to $36,000 (tax exempt) for 3 years full-time, with a maximum payable rate of $12,000 per annum.
Applications for Cancer Council Western Australia research funding should be made through eligible institutions which are registered as Administering Institutions. Applicants should contact the Research Administration Officer of their Institution for further advice regarding the closing date, institutional approvals and processes.
